Course Details

If you wish to pursue a career in the field of health care, social care or early years (e.g., nursing, midwifery, social work or primary teaching) this course will address many aspects that are integral to such health care professions. The course covers a wide range of subjects and is good preparation for either further study at university or direct entry into employment.

Please note:
This course is only available to students studying two A-levels at the Sixth Form Centre at the South Sefton Campus. Students are only permitted to study one BTEC alongside two A-levels.

In your first year, you will study Human Lifespan Development, developing your knowledge and understanding of patterns of human growth and development. You will learn about factors that can influence human growth, development and human health, across all life stages. You will also study Meeting Individual Care and Support Needs which looks at the principles behind providing quality care and support.

If you intend to study a programme of two A-level subjects and one BTEC Extended Certificate subject you will need a Grade 5 in English Language and have four other Grade 4 qualifications including Maths.

Additional entry requirements:

  • You must have achieved at least a grade 4 in GCSE separate sciences or grades 4/4 in GCSE Dual Science.

The College will always treat each applicant as an individual. Should you not have or not expect to obtain the grades stated above, or not have relevant industry-related experience, the College would still welcome your application for this course as this will enable us to identify whether this course is, in fact, the right course for you or whether another course may be more appropriate.
