Health and Social Care Practice:

Lessons will encompass a blend of examination preparation and coursework. Students will deepen their understanding of the health and social care sector through discussions, essay writing, and research activities. Additionally, there will be opportunities for independent research into health and social care issues, such as health inequalities, health promotion, and the increasing demand on social care services, enhancing comprehension of this multifaceted field.

You will require some basic equipment, including pens and a notepad. While access to a laptop is not essential, it would be beneficial for completing coursework. A comprehensive selection of resources will be provided, including textbooks and workbooks.

This subject is aimed at students who have a real desire to work in the NHS or affiliated services and care for others in careers as varied as nursing, midwifery, social work, paramedics, teaching and clinical psychology.

You will need a minimum or five GCSEs, including English at grade 5 and Maths at grade 4 together with three other subjects at grade 4 or above.

Additional entry requirements:

  • A minimum of grade 4-4 in GCSE Combined Science or grade 4 in Biology

Yes. You will have timetabled sessions each day of the week. There will be times when you are not in a lesson; this is your personal study time. During these sessions you will be completing activities which mean you are prepared for your subject lessons. This includes completing homework, revision, Brainscape decks, coursework tasks etc.
